Wetenschappelijk onderzoek toont aan: bioplastics composteren uitstekend

Met de publicatie van een wetenschappelijk rapport van Wageningen University & Research is de langgewenste duidelijkheid verkregen ten aanzien van de composteerbaarheid van bioplastics. Het onderzoek heeft aangetoond dat composteerbare bioplastics minstens net zo goed composteren als gangbaar GFT-afval dat in de groene afvalbak wordt weggegooid.

Full biodegradable pads - substituting taboos

In Bangladesh we are improving the menstrual hygiene of women and girls, which allows them to increase their social and economic participation, health and wellbeing. This year we realized 49 school campaigns reaching 8,207 girls in the age from 11-13, raised awareness at 400 mothers and fathers, trained 191 teachers with a curriculum on menstrual hygiene, launched an online platform and TV serie and developed biodegradable pads.

Taghleef unveils bio-based film

Taghleef Industries has extended its Nativia range of bio-based and industrially-compostable films with Nativia Ness, which is a white voided film containing second generation starch derived from waste water of the potato processing industry. This film was developed by Taghleef in a close collaboration with Mars, Rodenburg and Mondi. This collaboration won the eleventh Global Bioplastics Award for a chocolate bar wrapper developed for Mars and Snickers bars packaging.

Rodenburg Biopolymers wins Global Bioplastic Award 2016

Mars, Rodenburg, and Taghleef win the 11th Global Bioplastics Award 2016, the ‘Oskar’ in the bioplastics industry. The reward goes to the chocolate bar wrapper; a bio-based film made from potato waste starch. The innovative packaging solution is a joint development by Mars, Rodenburg Biopolymers and Taghleef Industries and meets the ever-increasing trend for sustainable packaging solutions.

Affordable and biobased sanitary pads in Bangladesh

Since 2016 TNO and partners are working on creating access to toilets, women empowerment and the development of a new product – a full biodegradable low cost sanitary pad. Rodenburg is able to make these new degradable plastic films because they co-create with knowledge institutes (TNO), processors and end-consumers.

Rodenburg presents Mars biobased wrapper during ITR conference

Thijs Rodenburg had the honor to be one of the plenary speakers at this year’s Innovation Takes Root conference in Orlando, Florida. Rodenburg presented the cooperation with global confectionary company Mars to develop new biobased wrappers for the company’s chocolate candy bars. The new Mars packaging is biobased and derived from second-generation feedstock.
